The Challenge – Strengthening team trust, building a vision and celebrating achievements

Hugo Boss, a leading global fashion and lifestyle company, identified a need to strengthen the cohesion and unity within one of their internationally based teams.

This was a fast-paced and highly accomplished team responsible for a large budget. They had been through a reorganisation and lots of change. Building trust was essential to bring cohesion and ensure everyone felt valued and celebrated. The team noticed the challenges of working under pressure, in a fast-paced environment, and across different countries, cultures, and time zones.

Recognising these challenges, Veebha, VP EMEA Merchandise Management, recalled her positive experience working with Sarah earlier that year, as part of an off-site intervention for the senior leadership team. Impressed by Sarah’s engaging style and effective approach, Veebha invited Sarah to work with her team. The goal was to create an opportunity for everyone to come together, celebrate the team’s remarkable achievements, build connection, recognise each member’s unique contributions AND build a vision for the future.

I had the pleasure of having Sarah’s support with a recent leadership program that consisted of a multicultural internationally-based team. Sarah takes the time to listen to the needs of the team and structures her program meticulously to ensure the best possible outcome. She is very people-focused and understands in a high-pressured corporate environment, connections and deeper understanding of colleagues create a culture of belonging and purpose.

The Solution – Bespoke off-site ‘Best Possible Team’ workshops

Sarah designed a bespoke two-and-a-half-day offsite workshop for Veebha’s team to address these needs. In preparation, Sarah conducted confidential diagnostic conversations with six senior team members. These interviews helped Sarah to understand what was going well, and the challenges faced by the team. Sarah engaged with the broader team through email, using coaching questions to gather further insights. The workshop was designed using these fantastic insights.

The workshop aimed to celebrate the team’s achievements and create a cohesive team identity. Participants worked together to develop a team manifesto, exploring shared values, goals, and expectations. This process helped build a strong sense of unity and purpose among team members. The workshop also focused on developing strategies to convey the team’s brand and worth effectively to the wider organisation, ensuring the team’s contributions were recognised by all stakeholders.

To provide comprehensive support, Sarah brought in an expert co-facilitator to guide break-out exercises and enrich the experience. This collaborative approach allowed team members to engage deeply with the material and each other, fostering stronger connections and a shared vision for the future.

I’m not usually into team-building workshops, but I have to say that I really enjoyed it and came out feeling very positive.
